Claire Higgins

Dr Higgins is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. She teaches ‘Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine’, and runs a research group which uses human skin and hair follicles to model tissue growth, development and repair. Her lab employs next generation genomic analyses with confocal microscopy, live cell imaging, and in vitro organoid modelling to understand steps in skin and hair development, and the response of these cells to injury. The overarching goals of the lab are to promote skin and hair regeneration after wound healing, and to re-engineer scars into functional skin.
